What Pensford Residents Think

Ralph,
If Pensford's approx 1000 residents need 30 houses to meet demand, then
Keynsham needs 500
Bath needs 2800
Bristol needs 13000 and
Britain needs nearly 2 million new homes.
Food for thought !!
On a separate point...what God given right entitles villagers' children ( including my own) to a home in their own village at the expense of the Green Belt?
There are no jobs here.
As I understand it, the Green Belt was designed to prevent all urban sprawl, from villages as well as towns.
Pensford is hardly remote. There are ample brownfield sites within a few miles towards Bristol, and almost certainly closer to job opportunities.
One of the key attractions of building on Green Belt rather than brownfield is economic; no expensive site clearance, no contamination, etc etc.
Whatever Curo say, once the Green Belt is breached, the floodgates will open.
Large developers have deep pockets. And money talks.
Bristol has expanded dramatically to the west, at Nailsea; to the east at Longwell Green, and to the north at Yate. All create traffic congestion in and out of Bristol.
So far the south has survived.
But for how much longer... if Curo has its way?
There is already a planning application for nearly 300 houses in Whitchurch on Green Belt land.
How long before the developers turn their attention to Pensford, particularly if we have already voluntarily sacrificed some of our own Green Belt land to housing?
If we are not very careful, Pensford could easily become just another Bristol suburb before very long.
And Whitchuch village is your proof.
All the best,
A
